I have had a few clients wanting to know when the best time to buy certain fruits and vegetables. I have created a list of the months these foods are in season and basic tips to see when they are ripe. Remember this is a general guideline and some more specific types of these fruits/veg can have longer or shorter seasons. For example the chart says apples are from September to May. Gala apples are typically in season at this time, while Golden Delicious are in season during the month of November.

You can get many of these fruits and vegetables all year long due to modern farming technology. For Example, Tomatoes can be grown all year in a green house, but they are normally in season from May to August. Once they pass their season the plant would normally die off. With this modern farming the plant can yield its tomatoes all year. The tomatoes may not be as nutritious, plump or vibrant, but they are edible.

Since these are their natural seasons you will see these for sale really cheap in the stores! I try to plan my meals with the seasons, so I save money and to eat more nutritious foods!
